Can Technology Replace Court Reporters? This is a question that gets asked periodically, but most legal professionals believe the answer is no. Technology has actually improved and enhanced the service that court reporters provide, but it can’t replace the skills and experience provided by human beings.
For one, in spite of tremendous enhancements in digital recording technology, such recordings have the potential to malfunction, which can lead to fragmented, garbled, and even missing testimony in the absence of prompt human intervention. Second, recording and transcribing conversations requires human judgement and active intervention, particularly when two people attempt to speak at the same time. Third, at the present time, voice recognition software is not reliable enough to provide the kind of quality necessary in a legal forum. It’s flaws become especially evident when a speaker has a strong accent, talks very fast, talks at a low volume (a “low talker,” in Seinfeld parlance), or becomes emotional. Voice recognition software also doesn’t do well in rooms where there is background noise, which is unavoidable when depositions and other legal hearings are conducted. You can also imagine a scenario in which voice recognition software captures an off-the-record conversation and includes it in the record, which would obviously be disadvantageous to the aggrieved party.

Arrange for a Professional Legal Videographer to Film Your Deposition | DE
With finding qualified legal videographers another common challenge for attorneys and paralegals, providing professional legal videographers is yet another core part of our service. As you know, video can be a powerful tool in a legal case. If you need a court reporting service to record and transcribe your deposition we can help. We employ expert videographers using the latest in high-definition cameras—the kind of technology that can capture the most important visual details, like positive or negative body language, facial expressions, and the kind of gestures that are sometimes indicative of witness coaching. Similarly, the video editors we provide have extensive experience editing depositions and legal hearings and also utilize state-of-the-art equipment. So whether your post-production needs include linear editing, nonlinear editing, or media enhancement, we have a solution. Audio & video duplication and audio & video conversion for other formats is also available in DE.
Video Conferencing Technology | DE
Another area where technology has taken a great leap forward is video conferencing technology, which now enables you to take depositions from anywhere in the U.S. and still get much the same results as you would in person. And with video conferencing you can cut down on travel costs, lodging costs, and other expenses, and also avoid the hassle associated with getting all of the parties together for a deposition.
If you need a conference room for your hearing we can arrange that as well. Depending on the number of physical locations needed we can provide a single-site video conference or a multi-site video conference. We have access to hundreds of locations across the country and throughout the world, so scheduling a video conference that meets your needs is just a phone call away.
We will take care of the video conference setup (which includes location scouting, working out the logistics, supplying the A/V equipment, testing the equipment, and linking two or more locations). We also provide technical support before, during, and after your hearing so that you can focus all of your time and energy on your work. In fact, when you enlist our video conferencing services for a deposition or other legal proceeding, we will provide a detailed outline of all arrangements made and what you can expect. So call us and save time, money, and stress by using video conferencing for your next deposition.
Certified Court Reporters and Interpreters Available for Virtually Any Language in Delaware
These days, the parties to lawsuits and other legal proceedings come from increasingly diverse backgrounds and often don’t speak English as a first language. Sometimes you might even need a court reporter or interpreter who is prepared to work in multiple languages at the same proceeding.
As a full-service court reporting agency we work hard to meet all of our clients’ litigation support needs, whatever they may be. And part of delivering a comprehensive court reporting service means removing language barriers. That’s why we supply certified court reporters and interpreters for a diverse array of languages and dialects, as well as sign language for the hearing impaired. In fact, we can provide you with court reporters and interpreters across a menu of 140 or so languages, including Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Hindi, and Arabic. While we can’t promise you an interpreter who speaks an invented language like Esperanto or Klingon (the latter created for the alien race that inhabits the fictional Star Trek universe), we’re confident we have a solution for any language or dialect you are likely to encounter.
