Can Technology Replace Court Reporters? This is a question that gets asked periodically, but most legal professionals believe the answer is no. Technology has actually improved and enhanced the service that court reporters provide, but it can’t replace the skills and experience provided by human beings.

For one, in spite of tremendous enhancements in digital recording technology, such recordings have the potential to malfunction, which can lead to fragmented, garbled, and even missing testimony in the absence of prompt human intervention. Second, recording and transcribing conversations requires human judgement and active intervention, particularly when two people attempt to speak at the same time. Third, at the present time, voice recognition software is not reliable enough to provide the kind of quality necessary in a legal forum. It’s flaws become especially evident when a speaker has a strong accent, talks very fast, talks at a low volume (a “low talker,” in Seinfeld parlance), or becomes emotional. Voice recognition software also doesn’t do well in rooms where there is background noise, which is unavoidable when depositions and other legal hearings are conducted. You can also imagine a scenario in which voice recognition software captures an off-the-record conversation and includes it in the record, which would obviously be disadvantageous to the aggrieved party.

Online Case Management Illinois

Another area in which we can give you a leg up on the competition is through organization. The reality is that attorneys who can readily access mission-critical information have an advantage over opponents and peers alike. If you find yourself desiring easy access to case transcripts and documents at a moment’s notice we can help supply you with instant access to the documents needed. This includes the ability to view case information with just one keystroke or tap, either at your desktop or while using any mobile device connected to the Internet.

Online Access to Transcripts and Exhibits

As part of our full-service court reporting solutions, we provide you with online and mobile access to all materials related to your case, including a personal online calendar, transcripts, exhibits, and even and billing account information and invoices. Our online system allows you to view and download any materials you need—twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Additionally, our secure platform is set up so that only you and those individuals you designate (fellow attorneys and paralegals, for example) have access to sensitive materials in Illinois.

Legal Videographers | IL

That’s why it’s important not to cut corners by using “just anyone” with a camera to film and record your deposition or hearing. A professional legal videographer who has been trained to film in a legal setting—and who understands the importance of lighting, sound, and camera position—can provide you the footage you need to win your case. An experienced legal videographer will also utilize specialized equipment designed to capture the highest-quality audio and video. Using anything—or anyone—else, is penny-wise and pound foolish.

That’s why we make sure our videographers utilize top-of-the-line lighting and sound equipment, to ensure that our demanding clients get the footage they need. We shoot live, using high-gain microphones and high-definition cameras to provide you with the quality video recording you should come to expect.

Don’t overlook the importance of a top quality editor, either. As a leading court reporting agency we have the size and resources to retain experienced video editors to provide post-production services, including services like linear editing, nonlinear editing, and media enhancement. Our offerings also include time-saving services like audio & video duplication. Moreover, we have the ability to provide and convert audio and video to a variety of formats, including CD and DVD in IL.

Video Conferencing Solutions | IL

Another common need among our clients is a video conferencing solution. Oftentimes, it’s just not possible or practical to have everyone physically present in the same location for a deposition. That’s why we have made a commitment to providing our clients around the country with top quality video conferencing solutions, which allow you to take depositions remotely while still getting the same results you would in person.

In other words, thanks to technology you no longer need to be limited by geography—or need to travel to a remote location. Attorneys and other law firms employees know that getting on an airplane to travel to a deposition can be expensive and time-consuming. With video conferencing, you can reduce travel costs and limit other expenses, while also avoiding the hassle associated with coordinating a deposition at a remote location.

So whether you need a single-site video conference or a multi-site video conference we can help. We have access to hundreds of locations across the country and throughout the world, and our trained specialists excel at coordinating the logistics. In fact, when you enlist our video conferencing services for a deposition or other legal proceeding, we will provide you a detailed outline of what you can expect from us, contributing to your peace of mind. Want to save time and money by using video conferencing for your next deposition? Give us a call and give video conferencing a try.

We take care of the video conference setup, which includes selecting the location(s), working out the logistics, supplying all of the necessary equipment, testing the equipment, ensuring Internet access, and linking two or more locations. We utilize state-of-the-art equipment with high-definition video and our equipment is compatible with all laptops, desktops, tablets, and smartphones. Our conference rooms come fully furnished and have high-speed Internet connections, as well as large monitors and all the amenities you’ve come to expect.

Last but not least, we also provide technical support throughout the proceeding so that you can concentrate on the deposition and don’t need to worry about technical snafus.

Certified Court Reporters and Interpreting Services for your Deposition in Illinois

These days, many parties to lawsuits and other legal matters come from diverse backgrounds and may not speak English as their first, second or even third language. Sometimes, this can pose problems for attorneys because it’s not necessarily easy to find an interpreter who is capable of translating a particular language within the time frame in question. Depending on your circumstances, you might even need a court reporter that is prepared to work with you to provide the necessary transcription in multiple languages. This is why many of our longtime clients find this to be an increasingly valuable and oft-used part of our service.

As you can probably tell by now, we work hard to meet all of our clients’ litigation support needs, whatever they may be. We believe that delivering a comprehensive court reporting service means removing language barriers. That’s why we supply certified court reporters and interpreters for virtually any language or dialect you might encounter, as well as sign language for the hearing impaired. In fact, we can arrange for interpreting and translation services for over 140 different languages, including Mandarin, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Japanese, Russian, Hindi, and Arabic, among many others. In addition to being prepared to provide real-time translation of attorneys’ questions, we can also provide translation services during the discovery process. So whether you need an interpreter for a local case, an international deposition, or an arbitration hearing or mediation session, we can make sure that all your needs and requirements are met.
